Lest We Forget

A new life.
Damilola Olufemi Taylor

Damilola Olufemi Taylor was born on the 7th of December 1989 in Lagos, Nigeria into a family of five. He was the last born.

The move.
On the 4th of August 2000, he, his mother and his brother and sister travelled to London to seek medical treatment for Gbemi, Damilola’s sister.

Schooling.
He started his education, aged 3, in Luciana Primary School in Nigeria. On moving to UK, Damilola was admitted to Oliver Goldsmith primary school in Peckham. He was loved by everyone and was soon called ‘the boy with the infectious smile’. He longed to become a doctor after his life with his ill sister and wanted to save the lives of people with illnesses like hers.

Hobbies.
Damilola loved artwork as well as football and he supported Manchester FC. He wrote poems about his life ambition and once wrote one on a piece of his artwork.
“I will travel far and wide to chose my destiny and re-mould the world. I know it is my destiny to defend the world which I hope to achieve during my lifetime.”

Unfulfilled Dream.
Unfortunately, Damilola never accomplished his ambitions as on 27th November 2000 he was stabbed with a broken bottle in the thigh by a gang of youths while walking home from an after school computer club.
