| Last
summer I went on holiday with my family to Nigeria for
almost 4 weeks. These are a few of my favourite times: |
I
attended a wedding, and the reception
was at the MUSON (Musical Society of Nigeria)
centre in Lagos. Its foundation was laid by
Prince Charles. The bride was beautiful and
the food was fab
.

I enjoyed the Millennium Park, Abuja, especially
the fountains, which was dedicated by Queen ElizabethII.
Nearby was the Presidential villa. There were lots
of ice-creams and ice-lollies being sold on carts
as well.

I had a lovely time at the Childrens zoo
in Abuja where there were lots of animals (Giraffes,
Zebras). My little sister, Lola, liked the tortoises
the most. We stopped halfway through to get refreshments.
I got bottled Fanta and ice-cream. The spiderweb
climbing frame was splendid. |

My
mum loved the National Assembly, Abuja
and she had lots of photos taken of her and
the main statue which was in the courtyard. |

We
visited internet cafés both in Akure and Ile-Ife
where I emailed my friends. One hour in the internet cafe
costs 100 naira. My favourite internate cafe in Akure
was next door to this restaurant called Morrims. We went
there four times during our visit and I had a different
meal each time. I ate moin-moin, jollof rice, special
chicken, and once when we had a takeaway, we got given
these huge scotch eggs which tasted great. |
When
we first got to Nigeria we had to travel by another
plane for one hour from Abuja to Akure. I thought it was
going to be boring but it was quite interesting because
everyone got window seats as there was just my family
and two other men on there, including the pilot! This
meant we could see a great view of the roads and trees
and when we were really high, the clouds. We got given
snacks like Noreo cookies, five-a-live and pineapple juice.
My dad bought the A-Z of Abuja city.

While we were in Ifon, which is where my dads
family is, I learnt some Yoruba by following my grandad
to church every Sunday. They spoke in Yoruba but then
there were interpreters. On our way to Church, my little
sister could not resist playing with the sand! She also
found the wandering goats and chickens amusing. |

When I was with my mum's family in Ado-Ekiti , I learnt
to play lots of games like Whot and Ayo.Moreover
I watched a lot of Nigerian soap operas on VCD. |

My
sisters and I enjoyed being measured for clothes in Ibadan
and everywhere we went. It was lovely having tailor-made
clothes. We enjoyed going to the markets, hair-dressers
and supermarkets. Strangely, people kept calling us 'oyinbo'.

Luckily, I never got bitten by any mosquitoes!
I had a fabulous time and can't wait to go back
